The New York Giants stomped the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-16, Sunday at Arrowhead.  With the loss the Chiefs dropped to 0-4 on the season.

It was another game where the final score was closer than the game actually ever was.  Chiefs kick returner Jamaal Charles fumbled the opening kickoff setting up the Giants first touchdown.

The Giants did their part to keep the game close early with two first quarter turnovers but the Chiefs could only muster a Ryan Succop field goal.  Things only went south from there for the Chiefs.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning dissected the Chiefs secondary, completing 20 of 34 passes for 292 yards, three touchdowns, one interception and one fumble.  Giant running backs also found several holes en route a 4.7 yard per carry average.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs could only manage a grand total of three first downs in the first half of the game.  Through the first four games of the season the Chiefs offense has accounted for one touchdown in the first half.  I wonder if Chiefs head coach Todd Haley is rethinking his infamous quote that he could win more than two games with 22 guys off the street?

Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel was again a human pinata getting sacked five times by the Giants.  Cassel missed the first game of the season with a knee injury and if he can make it through the rest of the season without missing another it will be a minor miracle.

Cassel did guide the Chiefs to two fourth quarter touchdowns to make the score at least appear respectable.  Tight end Sean Ryan and wide receiver Bobby Wade each hauled in a touchdown for the Chiefs.  Perhaps the best moment of the game came after Ryan caught his touchdown and gave the ball to a kid in the front row.

These Chiefs have heart and do play hard for four quarters but their lack of talent and suspect coaching have left them in worse shape after four games than last year's 2-14 squad.  Looking for signs of improvement from week to week may be all Chief fans have to look forward to this season.

Along those lines the Chiefs started their fourth different right tackle, including the preseason, when Ryan O'Callagan got the call this week.  He acquitted himself rather well against the Giants ferocious pass rush.  However, the constant turnover along the offense front has prevented any type of cohesiveness to develop.

The Chiefs kept the revolving door that is their roster spinning this past week.  They added tight end Leonard Pope to the roster and released linebacker Monty Beisel and corner back Riccardo Colclough.

Offensive tackle Chris Patrick was added to the Chiefs practice squad and tight end Tom Crabtree was released.  The Chiefs also added linebacker David Herron and corner back Mike Richardson to the roster.

Quarterback Tyler Thigpen was traded to the Miami Dolphins for a furture draft pick.  Say what you will about Thigpen but at least he made games exciting to watch last season.  Chief fans sure could use some excitement anytime now from this team.
